olio’s principal and owner, Sara McCarter, received her bachelor of architecture degree from Virginia Tech’s College of Architecture and Urban Studies. After graduating, she worked at a large architecture and engineering firm in Roanoke for 5 years. Wanting to gain more knowledge on the construction side of the industry, she later went to work as the construction manager for a growing retirement community, managing several different construction projects.
